KATE Middlebrook and her hounds, Tucker, Saffron and Tipsy are taking to the streets to raise awareness of Greyhounds as family pets.

The meeting point is The Bell, in St Cross Road, Winchester this Sunday from 10am and the walk will go along the water meadows into the city centre for a meet and greet with the dogs.

There will be a pub stop at O’Neills and then returning along the same route back to The Bell.

The walk is an annual event as part of the Great Global Greyhound Walk which has hounds and humans walking simultaneously at parks, woods, beaches and heaths all over the UK and, indeed, in locations across the world including America, Australia, Croatia, Dublin, Belgium and Canada.

Kate said: “The walk had 3,742 hounds participating in the UK last year and over 863 abroad and it is an amazing chance to raise the profile of the Retired Greyhound Trust and for members of the public to really see what ideal pets these dogs are”.

There is no charge to take part but there will be a charity raffle and the group are hoping for donations from the public.
