A PREGNANT woman was involved in one of two crashes which have caused long delays on a busy Hampshire motorway.

Two separate incidents occurred between junctions 10 for Winchester City Centre and 13 for Eastleigh of the M3 southbound.

The first accident occurred between junction 12 and 13 and blocked two lanes southbound.

An ambulance crew was called out at 12.42pm today to reports of a motorcyclist coming off his bike, but no other vehicles were involved.

The rider is currently being assessed at the scene by ambulance crews but is conscious and breathing.

The second crash involved five different vehicles between junction 10 and 11 of the southbound M3 and was spotted by an ambulance at 12.45pm which had been heading to the earlier incident.

The five-vehicle collision has been described as “not serious” but a pregnant woman was involved and is currently being assessed by an ambulance officer after complaining of abdominal pains.

The second accident caused the entire southbound carriageway to be blocked, but it has since reopened.

Queues tail back to Winchester but are easing, Highways England said at 1.50pm.
