TRIBUTES have been paid to a woman who died in a car crash thought to have been caused after a deer jumped in front of her vehicle.

Ivory Lapitan, 24, was killed after she hit the deer when it ran in front of her Peugeot, before colliding with a tree on the A33 near Micheldever.

Paramedics found her dead at the scene at 6.30am on Monday, April 25.

Ms Lapitan, from Basingstoke, worked for the NHS and had studied at the University of Southampton.

Now an inquest into the fatal smash has been opened at Winchester Coroner’s Court.

Tributes to the young woman have poured in on social media, describing her as an “inspiration” and a “gentle soul”.

Kim Ash wrote: “I’ve taken all this time for granted when I could have spent as much time as I could with you.

“You were such a good friend with a golden heart and soul. I’m so sad to see you go kaibigan, you made such a difference in everyone’s lives.”

Jennifer Gill said: “Ivory Lapitan you will be deeply missed. You have brought so much happiness and laughter into my life. There was never a dull moment and my many memories with you will never be forgotten.

“You truly lived life to the fullest and you’re an inspiration to us all. May your kind heart and gentle soul rest in peace.”

Anna Wisniewski said: “I am truly shocked and saddened by the news Ivory Lapitan. The kindest person I have ever met, with the biggest heart. You will be truly missed by everyone that has ever crossed your path. Rest in peace.”

As previously reported Hampshire police were investigating the cause of the accident but it is thought to have been caused as a result of a deer running in front of the vehicle being driven by Ms Lapitan.

No one else was involved in the incident which was investigated by special road traffic officers. The investigation findings will be passed to the Hampshire coroner.

The inquest will resume on September 13.
