A WINCHESTER writer has labelled his new book as a game changer in the battle of religion versus science.

Dr John Morris, 79, was at Waterstone's at the Brooks Shopping Centre for the launch of his new novel Suffering: If God exists, why doesn’t he stop it?.

The book covers science, gods and their connection in different religions.

Written for all faiths, it shares views of atheism, Hinduism, Christianity and others.

Dr Morris said: “The debate is as old as history – does suffering contradict the existence and love of God?

“My book replies no, by providing scientific and rational evidence for a realistic faith.

“I conclude that it is not intellectual suicide to believe that we live in the best possible evolving world, made not by chance, but by a God who suffers alongside our own pain.

“If I am right, my brief book will help end the debate and will be a game changer.”

The book is £5.99 and available from Waterstone's and Winchester Cathedral's bookshop.

All the proceeds from the novel will go to charity Equipment for Disabled Children.
