THE Mason brothers showed Whitchurch United no mercy as Sholing rose to fourth in the Sydenhams Premier Division with a 3-0 win at Longmeadow last night.

The Jam Boys buckled in the face of a strong first-half performance from the Boatmen who did all the damage in the opening 42 minutes.

Top scorer Dan Mason opened the scoring on 21 minutes, robbing a defender before finishing with aplomb.

His second goal, 13 minutes later, was even better as he smashed home an unstoppable 30-yarder for his 21st goal of the season.

Big brother Byron finished the job, heading home a corner from set-piece maestro Kev Brewster.

Dave Diaper’s Boatmen entertain Laverstock & Ford in the Sydenhams League Cup on Saturday hoping for a repeat of their recent 3-1 Vase success over the Wiltshire side. Entry is £4 for Saints season-ticket holders.

Brockenhurst skipper Mark Barker hit an eight-minute hat-trick to wipe out Craig Hardy’s opener for AFC Porchester at Grigg Lane, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory for the Badgers.

Graham Rix’s Royals hit back through Joe Noakes and a late Jason Parish leveller either side of having Rob Evans sent off in the 3-3 Sydenhams Premier draw.
