POLICE have shut down a notorious house in Winchester after a woman was charged with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

Magistrates today issued a closure order against a house in Trussell Crescent, Weeke, after reports of drug taking and anti-social behaviour.

It will be a criminal offence to enter the house without police clearance for the next three months.

The house's resident, Lisa O’Sullivan, 37, has been charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin, both class A drugs.

The Chronicle has reported two assaults on the street in the last eight months, including a double stabbing, with numerous burglaries and petty crimes linked to the area and its residents.

Hampshire Constabulary said the problems were "having a significant effect" on neighbours in the relatively affluent Weeke suburb.

District Inspector Jon Turton said: “This closure order has been a result of successful joint working between our local officers and Winchester City Council.

“The occupants of this address had severely affected the quality of life of those living within close proximity. Our aim is to prevent this from happening, reduce demand and to protect vulnerable people.

“If you are concerned about drug-related crime or ASB where you live, please contact us. The support we receive from local people is vital in helping us make our communities safer and every piece of information is greatly appreciated. With your help, we are able to request these closures which illustrate the consequences of criminality and make Winchester a pleasant place to live.”

O'Sullivan is due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday.

Anyone with information related to drugs or anti-social behaviour is asked to call 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
