GENEROUS guests in Winchester have raised more than £17,000 to help local stroke survivors at a recent charity ball.

The ball at the Guildhall Winchester was organised by staff at Hobbs Neurological Rehabilitation to celebrate their 10th Anniversary, and to raise vital funds for the Stroke Association.

It raised £17,532 for the charity.

Nicky Ellis Director of Hobbs Rehabilitation in Winchester said, “We work with a lot of stroke survivors at the centre, and know the impact a stroke can have on someone. The evening was a great success and the total money raised exceeded our expectations. We owe a big thank you to everyone who was involved in planning the event, and also to those who came along on the evening and helped us reach this fantastic target.’’

Michelle Bowdidge, Community and Events Fundraising Manager said: “With around 152,000 strokes a year in the UK – that’s around one every three and a half minutes - it's vital we have support from people like those at Hobbs Neurological Rehabilitation who can raise funds for those affected by stroke. We’re very grateful to them for raising a phenomenal amount of money which will go towards supporting stroke survivors and their families.”
