POLICE this evening issued an appeal for witnesses after a man was assaulted in a Winchester suburb.
The victim was walking along Fromond Road, Weeke, at its junction with Trussell Crescent when he was attacked.
The 33-year-old asked a group of five youths to move out of his way on Sunday, August 30 at around 10pm.
They moved so he could walk through the group, as he did so he was hit on the neck with hard object and fell to the floor.
He was then hit in the face but managed to get up and run off.
The youths were all aged 16-18, four of them were white and one was black. One was wearing a grey hoodie.
The victim was left with pain to his neck and a bruise under his eye.
Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the group in the area around the time of the attack or has any information about the aassault.
They are asked to call PC Jonathan Earnshaw at Winchester police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
