FOLLAND Sports won’t stand in the way of David Jerrard signing Sydenhams Wessex forms for Bemerton Heath Harlequins who have lodged notice of approach for the striker.

As far as the Planemakers are concerned, the young former Dorchester Town frontman is already history at Follands Park.

Jerrard initially stayed on with the club after Jay Keating, the manager who signed him for Follands during the summer, was sacked after just three months in charge.

He played and scored in their opening game of the season against Bemerton, but has not featured since.

New boss Kevin Jackson said: “Having been selected for our FA Cup tie (at Longwell Green Sports), David asked me not to play him in the FA Cup and I’ve heard he’s gone down to Gosport to play for their under-21s.

“If David Jerrard was asking not to play in the FA Cup then he doesn’t want to play for Follands. He’s no longer with the club."

Follands were beaten 4-1 at home by title fancies AFC Portchester (Rob Evans 2, Alex Baldacchino 2) last night, their fourth straight defeat, but Jackson was pleased with the performance under difficult circumstances.

Dan To, a young midfielder, scored on his debut, and was joined in the squad by fellow new signings Jamie Craven and Liam Golding – formerly of Sholing – and striker Michael Dark who banged in 23 goals for US Portsmouth last term in Sydenhams One.

Follands have also drafted in Pat Williams, an experienced centre-half from junior football, while Ryan Small made a promising backline debut against Portchester having progressed through the Planemakers’ youth and reserve ranks.

Horndean head the fledgling Sydenhams Premier table on goal difference from Portchester after a handsome 4-0 win over Fareham Town courtesy of Nathan Paxton, Robbie Tambling (2) and Gary Austin.

Blackfield & Langley sit a point behind in third after brushing aside Bournemouth Poppies 4-0 at Gang Warily. Sam Lanahan scored twice, supported by a goal apiece from Dan Munday and man-of-the-match Ekow Elliott.

Alresford Town suffered their first league defeat of the season, beaten 2-0 at Moneyfields who scored through Dan Gauntlett and Alfie Rutherford.

Bemerton Heath Harlequins boast a 100 per cent record after making it two wins out of two league games against Verwood Town.

Graham Kemp’s men were leading by a Jack Slade strike when Verwood 'keeper Chris Lynch was sent off at the expense of a penalty.

Tom Roberts followed up after his initial spot kick was saved and, after ten-man Verwood had pulled one back through Liam Donachy, goals by Tom Jeffes and Will Robinson finished them off for a 4-1 Bemerton victory.
