A WINCHESTER man has appeared in court in connection with an alleged armed robbery in the city.
Police launched an investigation after a 54 year-old woman had her purse taken from her in the car park of Aldi on Burnett Close in Winchester shortly after 2pm on Sunday.
Daniel Mcauley, 25, of Trussell Crescent in Winchester has been charged with one count of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and one count of robbery.
He was remanded into custody to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court yesterday.
A Hampshire piolice spokesman said the force wanted to re-assure the local community that the incident was a rare and isolated one which is not being linked with any other investigations.
