SALISBURY manager Steve Claridge goes back a long way with newly-recruited striker Ashley Jarvis.

The 27-year-old first came to his attention when the two were together at Brighton & Hove Albion – Claridge as a first-team player and Jarvis coming through the youth system.

Since then Jarvis has featured for Burgess Hill, Gosport Borough, AFC Totton and Dave Diaper’s Sholing, for whom he scored 34 goals in their Sydenhams Premier/FA Vase-winning season of 2013/14.

He spent last season back at Folland Sports, where he had previously netted goals galore in his ‘Batman and Robin’ partnership with targetman Jamie Musselwhite.

Southampton-based Jarvis is one of two Planemakers to join phoenix club Salisbury, along with 22-year-old centre-back Calum Brockway, a product of the Sholing youth/reserve system.

Claridge has also swooped for wide right midfielder Claudio Herbert, 22, who played for Andover Town last season and was previously a junior with the old Salisbury City FC.

It brings Whites’ signings up to nine, leaving Claridge more work to do ahead of the first home friendly against Bristol Rovers at the Ray Mac on Saturday, July 11.
