YOUNG carers from Winchester who put their experiences into photographs have celebrated their work going on show in the city.

Winchester and District Young Carers worked with professional photographer Alicia Clarke and musician Aga Serugo-Lugo to produce songs and photos about the challenges and rewards of caring for an ill or disabled parent.

Let the Sun Shine on Me opened at Winchester Discovery Centre on Friday to mark national Carers Week, celebrating their achievements and garnering support for charities.

The scheme was run by arts charity Create.

Youngsters were also treated to a two-course meal by Winchester's Brasserie Blanc to mark Carers Week.

A restaurant spokesman said: “We are delighted to be able to support Winchester’s young carers by donating a meal during Carers Week.

"Young carers miss out on a lot due to their caring responsibilities, so we are honoured to be in a position where we can treat them to something special.

"We’re very much looking forward to welcoming them to the Brasserie for a fabulous dining experience and we wish the young carers the best of luck with their exhibition at the Discovery Centre.”
