BILLY Lowes’ loan spell with AFC Totton last season did not go unnoticed by Weymouth’s Jason Matthews.

The Terras boss has made the former Poole Town midfielder one of his latest summer signings, along with defenders Jake Wannell and Mark Cooper.

Lowes was voted Dolphins’ young player-of-the-year for 2013/14 and gained valuable experience with Totton last season in the Southern One South & West.

Now Matthews is looking forward to giving the youngster a first-team break as the Terras go gunning for glory in the Southern Premier Division.

Former Eastleigh goalkeeper Matthews said: “Billy is someone I looked at a couple of times when he went on loan to Totton and he impressed me.

“He is a big, strong midfielder and will add competition for places.

“He is young and very hungry and he wants a chance. He doesn’t feel like he had a fair chance at Poole so he has a point to prove.

“He ticked a lot of boxes for us and we are delighted to have him on board.”
