A RECRUITMENT firm is on the hunt for the next young culinary star as it hosts a competition for Winchester schoolchildren.
Pupils aged 13-15 from Perins School in Alresford and Kings' and Henry Beaufort schools in Winchester will come together for the final of The Orcinus Young Chef 2015 contest.
The MasterChef style competition will be split into four rounds designed to put youngsters through their paces at the final on Thursday June 4 at Perins School.
Head chef of Lainston House, Andy MacKenzie, will be a guest judge.
The competition is designed to inspire young people to get excited about cooking and show them what food-related apprenticeships are available.
Orcinus, a Winchester-based hospitality recruitment specialist, want to see more young people in the industry.
Founder Sarah King said: "I feel that this competition is a fantastic opportunity to educate school leavers on the advantages of entering the catering industry as well as to show them that ‘fresh is best’. It gives us the chance to introduce them to another potential career path."
