IT was a traditional English fete and the weather held for hundreds of people to really enjoy it.
The event was held on the open space next to St Mary’s Church on the green at London Road, Kings Worthy, on Bank Holiday Monday.
There were the ever-popular fun and games with proceeds going to the church and children's charities.
For the young there was face painting, the trampoline, inflatable slide, getting sloshed in the stocks and eating candy floss.
For the older the chance to buy a book a plant and have a cup of tea.
Families could be seen strolling around the green and children enjoyed the fairground attractions, including the teacups ride. There was a free bus service put on by Friends of King Alfred Buses.
Organiser Paul Young said: "It was the biggest crowd we have had for probably about five years. When we have counted the money we will know how successful it has been.
"The Military Wives Choir were a roaring success, they sounded superb and their singing was excellent.
"Those that got up and danced the zumba had a lovely time and you could see others bopping in the crowd.
"It was a great day."
