Police are appealing for information after a pedestrian was hit on a Hampshire road.

It happened on the A303 eastbound near Popham services at about 12.30am this morning.

A man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are in the process of notifying next of kin to allow for formal identification procedures to take place.

The road remain closed until about 6.30am.

 

 

 

Sergeant Andy Gwyer said: “We are appealing to anyone who was travelling eastbound on the A303 near Popham services around the time of the incident. We need to establish the exact circumstances and identify any further vehicles involved.

“One driver has come forward. We have spoken with several drivers at the scene, but we know there are still vehicles unaccounted for.

“Anyone who may have been involved or witnessed the incident is asked to come forward.”
