A WINCHESTER chef has said he is hoping to continue his fledgling comedy career, despite being ‘buzzed’ off stage by some of the country’s biggest judges.

Peter Cumine, 52, of Sycamore Drive in Kings Worthy, appeared on Britain’s Got Talent last month with his stand-up act.

Within seconds the judges – Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon - hit their buzzers to send him off stage.

After the show, organisers posted a video of him online which has been viewed nearly 250,000 times. Mr Cumine said the response has been brilliant.

“It didn’t go so well and I was dreading being on television but it seems to have gone the other way with the YouTube clip,” he said.

“Off camera David Walliams had a nice chat with me; he read my book and said I should keep writing. I came home feeling quite good.”

Mr Cumine, a chef at The Plough Inn in Itchen Abbas, opened his audition with: “I used to be obsessed with pantomimes, but thankfully that’s all behind me!”

When prompted by judge Simon Cowell about the presents on a table on stage he said: “I just wanted to make sure I had some stage presence.”

Alesha Dixon said: “Can you buzz twice?”

But that hasn’t put Mr Cumine off – he wants to continue working on his comedy and testing his material on his Facebook friends.

The talent show searches for the country’s best act and the prize is to perform in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Show.
