FESTIVAL lovers have been given a financial boost with a new grant aimed at promoting cultural events across Winchester district.
Winchester City Council has introduced a new scheme for arts activities to benefit local residents and boost the economy which will see a total of £10,000 handed out over the next financial year.
Individual grants for up to £2,000 will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Kate Cloud, head of economy and arts, said: “At Winchester City Council, we take great pride in the work we do to support our local economy. We recognise that creative industries are one of our key sectors, and we want to continue to support the sector as best we can.
"We are looking to either help make creative people sustainable business people, or encourage career progression within the creative sector. These new grants complement the arts advisory service we offer, and other cultural activities across the city including the cultural network events.”
