A WINCHESTER doctor has done his bit for fitness and the Entente Cordiale.

Tim Foster ran the Paris Marathon to raise funds for the Winchester-Laon Twinning Association which promotes good relations between the English and French, especially living in the cathedral city of Laon in Picardy.

It is the second time Dr Foster, of West End Terrace, has run the 26.2 mile race through the streets of the French capital.

Dr Foster, 56, a GP at St Clement’s surgery, and his wife Gill joined the association about ten years ago.

He said: “The sun shone and the crowds and the organisation of the marathon were great. The marathon took me 4 hrs 33 minutes and I really enjoyed it but I was glad to see the finish line.”

A member of the reception staff at St Clement’s also ran the race and in 2012 three GPs from the surgery took part.
