UNDER normal circumstances, Sholing would use their last two games of the Southern One South & West campaign to build momentum for next month’s Hampshire FA Senior Cup final.

But this has been no ordinary season for Dave Diaper’s 17th-placed side.

From the very start, the Boatmen have been plagued by injuries and unavailability – and tomorrow’s trip to North Leigh is no exception.

Pete Castle (groin) and Sam Oloafe remain sidelined and Dan Miller is still away in the United States.

Kev Brewster and goalkeeper Mat Brown are back and Tobi Adekunle should be ready to rejoin the squad after groin trouble, but Diaper has long since given up on having a settled side.

Given all the turmoil, it’s a miracle Sholing have actually reached the county cup final against Conference South outfit Gosport Borough at Fratton Park on Tuesday, May 5 (7.45pm).

“Ideally we’d want to go into the final with some sort of momentum, but it’s not going to happen,” said the boss.

“I’ve resigned myself to a certain extent that we won’t have that luxury.

“We’ve still got Pete Castle and Sam Olaofe out and Matt Brown’s due back in the country (from America) today, so I don’t know how ready he is to play.”

Admission prices for the Hampshire Senior Cup final are £10 for adults and £5 for under-16s and over-65s. Tickets will available on the gate. Only the Frogmore Road entrance will be in use and there will be no car parking at the ground due to building works.
