WINCHESTER University is set to launch a sports study hub this month in a bid to boost its reputation for practical research.

The Sport and Exercise Research Centre will help academics from across campus solve problems with performance, exercise habits, healthy lifestyles and rehabilitation.

Dr Stewart Cotterill, head of business, law and sport, said: “We want to be able to do important research for what people are looking for answers to, rather than theoretical research.”

The centre’s four key areas of research are sport performance, coaching and pedagogy, sport and society and physical activity.

International experts including Dr Hazel Brown, Prof Simon Jobson and Dr Jason Tuck are set to give presentations at its launch on Wednesday, April 29.

Entrance is free to the event, from 5pm-8pm at the Stripe building on campus.
