ONE of Winchester’s most historic buildings is soon to host a medieval feast in aid of the Mayor’s charities.

The Great Hall will welcome costumed guests with drink, jugglers and dancers for a torchlit banquet.

Cllr Eileen Berry, Mayor of Winchester, will host the costume evening for six chosen charities, including Blue Apple Theatre, Winchester Talking Newspapers and Service charity SSAFA.

“It is as authentic as we can make it,” Cllr Berry said. “The emphasis is on having a wonderful fun filled evening with a great feast and entertainment. There is no doubt in my mind that this wonderful event with a three-course hog roast, jugglers, jesters, dancers as well as a welcome drink is going to benefit my wonderful charities, all who deserve our help – and that is exactly what you will be doing in this great medieval hall.”

The evening, which begins at 7pm for 7.30pm, will also benefit Together, the Rowans Hospice and BLESMA, which supports service personnel who have lost their eyesight or use of limbs.

The banquet ends at 11pm. Medieval costume is encouraged but black tie is acceptable. Tickets are available at £40 per person from Winchester Tourist Information on 01962 740500 or by emailing tourism@winchester.gov.uk.
