APPRENTICES from Winchester City Council raised more than £500 for charity at a Winchester car boot sale.
The four – Chandler Divers, Nina Harper, Matt Scott and James Roberts - collected money at the event, held every week in the Cattle Market car park.
They raised £540 which they will use to buy and donate food and clothing to Winchester’s Basics Bank.
The council’s apprentices are entrants in the Brathay Apprentice Challenge 2015, which is the official search to find the national apprentice team of the year.
They hope to be recognised for their efforts in supporting the community and raise awareness of apprenticeships.
The group have recently completed a team-building day at Winchester’s Fire Station which tested their communication and logistical abilities - vital skills for the competition.
Matt Scott, a civil engineering apprentice, said: “It’s great to be a part of an active team and to feel like we are doing something beneficial to the community. We hope to go far in the Brathay Apprentice Challenge, with the support of the public.”
