FALKLAND Island officials who rose to prominence after graduating from a Winchester sixth-form returned to campus to meet the next generation of boarding students.

Island officials Michael Poole and James Marsh visited Peter Symonds College earlier this month to hear comments and concerns about their experiences and transitioning to A levels.

The college hosts dozens of boarders from the islands every year, many of whom are leaving home for the first time.

Mr Marsh, assistant representative for the Falkland Islands Government, was one of the first students to live in Peter Symonds’ 47-bed boarding house, Falkland Lodge.

“It was interesting to see how much things around the campus have changed,” he said.

“Although there are many wonderful new buildings around the campus, it was refreshing to see that the atmosphere in the boarding house is still very much the same.

“It was amusing to be reminded what we looked like when we first arrived at Symonds and lovely to meet up with staff members who still remembered us!”
