THE new chairman of one of Winchester’s oldest social venues has said he wants to put it back on the map for the city’s residents.
Jerry Wahlberg, who joined the Winchester Club in the last few weeks, said he wants to make it “a place where people of all ages can enjoy themselves”.
“I want to make this the finest social club in Winchester city and surrounding areas,” he said.
“I am looking forward to seeing new people coming to the club.”
The 100-year-old Worthy Lane club, which has function rooms for meetings, award ceremonies and weddings, offers bingo, quiz nights and raffles.
“I want it to be a club for all the people of Winchester”, Mr Wahlberg added.
