A WINCHESTER bed and breakfast which was opened in January by a 25-year-old local woman has been hailed a success.

Hannah McIntyre spent two years refurbishing her property in Parchment Street, gifted by her father, into a boutique three-bed B&B in a bid to give her visitors a “home from home”.

So far Hannah's, which boasts hand-crafted furnishings and luxurious mezzanine bathrooms, has received 32 five-star reviews on TripAdvisor and received high praise from a number of national magazines.

At her official launch on Tuesday, attended by some of Hampshire's elite businessmen and women, Miss McIntyre said: “I'm loving having so many people here at one time - though I'm a little nervous and really excited.

“Everything's worked out really well since getting started - we've not had a single bad review - touch wood!

“It's so nice to have such a good turn-out from local people who I haven't even formally met yet.”

She was supported by her mum, Jane McIntyre, who has an interior design shop in Southgate Street, with a lot of the decoration. But Hannah was largely responsible for a lot of the quirky and original designs.

The three double bedrooms which have en-suite bathrooms with unique touches, including copper-piped showers and sliding cottage-style doors, sit aloft a large and open reception room complete with a grand piano.

Local businessman, David Nicholson, praised Miss McIntyre's ingenuity.

“I think it's stunning, absolutely stunning,” he said. “It shows imagination, interest and it's simply stunning.”
