STEPS are finally being taken to fill a gap in the history of Winchester.
The importance of the Jewish history of Winchester (one clue is the name of Jewry Street) is being recognised by the city council.
Its tourism team is commissioning a series of seven illustrations that depict Jewish artefacts and historical landmarks from the Medieval period.
The council is looking for drawings that will feature in a new leaflet to be published later this year. It wants an image of a gibbet, a star of David, a Jewish token and a medieval town hall.
The commission is for £450 + VAT and would include attendance of briefing meetings with the University of Winchester and Park Corner Design.
Anyone interested should contact Ellen Simpson, Head of Tourism, at esimpson@winchester.gov.uk or phone 01962 848 219 by Wednesday March 18.
