TOTTON & Eling co-boss/chairman Andy Tipp is hoping to see the good side of the Millers’ split personality in tomorrow’s crucial Sydenhams Premier basement clash at home to Fareham Town.

The stakes could hardly be higher for bottom club T&E who, with 11 matches remaining, desperately need victory at Miller Park to stand any hope of reeling in Fareham and Christchurch who are four and six points above them respectively.

Totton have games in hand over both of them and Tipp truly believes they can pull off ‘mission impossible’ - as long as they follow the blueprint of Tuesday’s excellent 2-0 win over second-placed Moneyfields rather than slip into the bad habits of last Saturday’s dismal 3-1 defeat at Alresford Town.

“A win tomorrow would put us a point behind Fareham with two games in hand and that would really put the cat among the pigeons,” said Tipp.

“With the way Christchurch are going, I seriously think we could leapfrog the pair of them if we play as we know we can do.

“Last Saturday at Alresford we didn’t turn up, but we really battled hard against Moneyfields the other night and, when you’re in this position, you’ve got to fight for every point.

“Fareham lost 5-1 at Horndean on Tuesday, so hopefully we’ve got a bit more fight in us than they have.

“We have to perform now,” he stressed. “We can’t play like we did against a top side on Tuesday and then not do it against a lower side four days later.”

Steve Jenkin – one of several seasoned campaigners to have gravitated back to the T&E fold - scored his third goal in as many games against Moneyfields and his contribution on the left of an attacking three was key.

“We went with three up top with Steve on the left, Sam House on the right and Carlos Geteski playing the hold-up role through the middle,” Tipp explained.

“Steve and Sam were outstanding. They’re quick anyway and they tore Moneys to pieces.

“Steve’s on fire at the minute. I don’t want him going home to see his kids – he’s got to keep on playing!” he smiled.

“Our two full-backs Callum Davies and Louis Dear were also superb and gave us the width we needed.”

Midfielder Adam Lowther serves the last of his suspension tomorrow and frontman Stuart Brown has an ankle injury.

But Tipp has fingers tightly crossed that another treasured ‘old boy’ Chris Marwood, who was rested on Tuesday to get over a minor strain, will be fit and ready for frontline action.

Tomorrow’s Sydenhams Premier fixture between Brockenhurst and Poppies has been postponed due to ground problems at Grigg Lane.

The goalposts and fittings at one end were damaged by a tractor while work was being carried out on the pitch.

Brock swiftly ordered replacements but cannot get them in time for tomorrow.
