THERE was not a cloud in the sky as daredevils from a Winchester superstore set off for a charity challenge.
The 11 managers and staff from Sainsbury’s, in Badger Farm, gave themselves a 40 kilometre mountain biking course, to raise money for Comic Relief.
Shoppers waved and cheered as they started the five-hour ride on Saturday whilst staff collected bucket donations and sold charity scratch cards.
Store manager Rich Morris said they have raised £1,150 from sponsor forms, and the total from collections is still being totted up.
“The whole store is buzzing for Comic Relief,” he said.
“Sainsbury’s is the national partner. The support and donations have been phenomenal. The ride was great, it was a great team effort and I’m really proud of them all.”
The route took them through Stanmore, Hursley and Oliver’s Battery, before arriving back at the store.
Mr Morris said there are events throughout the rest of the week to raise funds, including static bike challenges and a bathtub of gunk challenge.
Red Nose Day is on Friday, March 13.
