TWO doctors’ surgeries have been rated as ‘good’ by health inspectors.

Reports published by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) say that West Meon Surgery, in West Meon, and Friarsgate Practice, in Weeke, are both rated good in categories such as ‘safe’, ‘effective’, and ‘responsive’.

Inspectors visited West Meon Surgery on November 6 last year and the resulting report published last month said: “The practice was above the national average for the proportion of respondents to the GP patient survey who stated that they always or almost always saw or spoke to the GP they preferred.”

It also found that patients were complimentary about the service, staff are committed, and it is also above average for the percentage of patients who gave a positive answer to accessing the GP practice by phone.

In a similar report, also published last month, inspectors said Friarsgate Practice, in Weeke, is safe, responsive, caring, effective and well-led.

It said: “We found the practice provided good care to older people, people with long term conditions, people in vulnerable circumstances, families, children and young people, working age people and people experiencing poor mental health.”

The inspection was carried out on October 16 last year.
