A ROAD in rural Hampshire has been closed and homes left without power following a road traffic collision.

Hampshire Police closed the A272 in Bramdean earlier this afternoon after a car collided with a telegraph pole.

A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service said they received the call at around 12pm.

“We sent one rapid response vehicle and an ambulance crew and one person was taken to Royal Hampshire County Hospital with non life-threatening injuries,” she said.

The power went down at approximately 2.15pm, leaving four homes without electricity, and the pole smashed into three pieces.

The power is due back on at around 9.15pm today.

A spokeswoman for Southern Electric, Emily MacDonald, said: “We'd like to apologise to our customers who are affected and we are working to get the power back on as safely and quickly as possible.”
