FORMER Blackfield & Langley and Sholing striker Alex Baldacchino got the ball rolling for AFC Portchester as they stretched their unbeaten run to 11 league and cup games at the expense of Hamworthy United on Saturday.

A goal either side of the break ensured three more Sydenhams Premier points for Graham Rix’s upwardly mobile Royals, who have leapfrogged Blackfield into fifth place.

Baldacchino took just two minutes to make his mark, reacting first to the rebound after Andy Rinomhota had flicked the ball through to Jack Salter-Vaile whose shot bounced off the bar.

Rinomhota was again involved as Portchester made it 2-0 seven minutes from time. He skipped past three defenders before being brought down in the area and Jamie Musselwhite did the honours from the spot.

Portchester return to action tonight at home to seventh-placed Folland Sports.

“Now we’ve got everyone fit, we’re not a bad little unit,” said Rix.
