WINCHESTER Rotary Club is urging people to sign up to the sixth annual charity swimathon.

The organisers are encouraging people to register in teams of eight who will swim in relay for 55 minutes and raise money for a charity of their choice.

Teams will also donate £25 from their sponsorship to Winchester Rotary Trust Fund, which supports local and international causes.

Last year the event supported Hounds for Heroes, Countess Mountbatten Hospice and the Network Scouts, among others, and in 2013 £10,000 was raised.

The swimathon is on Saturday February 21 at Winchester College pool. Races run from 8.45am until 4pm, and Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Eileen Berry, who is also a Rotarian, will start the sounding bell.
