THE grounds of a historic Hampshire manor will be backdrop to a major Winchester athletics event next year.
Lainston House Hotel will host the Winchester duathlon on Sunday, March 22 and will offer novice races as well as standard and sprint distances.
The event will kick off with a run and then a cycle around the picturesque grounds before another run concluding at the finish line in front of the 17th century house near Sparsholt.
Crowds will also be entertained by a barbecue and falconer.
Organiser Chris Rees, of TryTri Events, said: “It offers a perfect place for a fun event which is shaping up to be another fantastic competition in our calendar for 2015.”
Mr Rees is advising athletes who are thinking of competing to sign up soon to avoid disappointment.
