BISHOP’S Waltham chiefs are set to write to Sainsbury’s urging them to reveal plans for a long-touted superstore.

The parish council will call for an early decision on the future of a controversial supermarket in Abbey Mill so plans can be made for local infrastructure.

Doubts over the scheme were raised after Sainsbury's announced it would cut dozens of planned supermarkets. The grocer remains tight-lipped on the scheme.

Bishop’s Waltham GP Dr Simon Hunter last week admitted there was “no plan B” for the town’s surgery if the grocer pulls out of building a new practice as part of the scheme.

The brownfield site could also be used for housing if the store is scrapped.
