FOLLAND Sports are up to fifth in the Sydenhams Premier Division, nine points behind leaders Moneyfields with two games in hand.

The Planemakers condemned bottom club Totton & Eling to their 16th defeat of a punishing league campaign at Millers Park last night but, as the 2-1 scoreline reflects, it was far from easy.

Recent signing Wayne Boud had an eventful night, scoring his first goal for the club and then being brought down for a penalty converted by skipper Jamie Barron.

But Steve Jenkin’s wonder strike halved Follands’ lead with around ten minutes to go.

“Although we missed a lot of chances and Ashley Jarvis had a goal disallowed, Totton didn’t play like a side that hasn’t won a game,” said Follands boss Danny Bowers.

“They deserve massive credit. I thought they played really well. The conditions were difficult with swirling wind and a really heavy pitch.”

Ex-Saint Matt Paterson fired Gosport Borough third in the Vanarama Conference South, scoring in a 1-0 home win over Hayes & Yeading..

AFC Portchester booked a home date with Newport IoW in the Sydenhams League Cup quarter-finals by demolishing Andover New Street 6-0 through Joe Bye, Simon Woods, Rob Evans (2) and two own goals.
