FIVE people who were arrested in connection with an unprovoked attack which left a man seriously injured have been bailed.
Police arrested and questioned them last week after a 35-year-old man was rushed to hospital with severe head and facial injuries on Friday, November 14.
A man told police he was walking in St Cross Road towards Ranelagh Road with a friend at around 3.35am when they were approached by a group of four men and a woman.
Some of the group struck the two men, leaving one injured on the ground. The injured man was taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital for treatment.
Police say the five people arrested and questioned included a 22-year-old man, three 21-year-old men and an 18-year-old woman.
They have been bailed until February 4, 2015.
