Cafe Monde in The Square
THIEVES stole cash from a popular Winchester cafe after smashing a rear window.
Student favourite Cafe Monde was broken into on Monday night and cash was stolen from the till.
Owner Phil Simmonds said: “It was quite a clean break-in – we opened on time the next morning.”
He did not report the incident to the police and did not reveal how much money was stolen.
The cafe was previously burgled in 2005 when thieves broke through the front window, which looks onto The Square.
