MULTIPLE track failures in Winchester which caused major disruption for commuters this morning will last all day.
The problems began last night and South West Trains had hoped that they would be fixed by 11am.
But bosses have now confirmed the disruption will last all day while specialist teams carry out repairs.
Work which was carried out last night to replace the malfunctioning equipment proved unsuccessful.
Work continued into the night and will carry on until the problem is fixed.
This has resulted in a severely reduced service running between Winchester and Basingstoke.
Passengers are being advised to allow extra time for their journey and to check before travelling this morning.
Cross Country services are taking ticket holders via any reasonable route until further notice and a replacement bus service will take people between Fareham and Eastleigh in both directions.
