FRUSTRATED boss Adie Arnold says he is “sick to death” of compliments from opposition managers who have masterminded victories over his Christchurch side.

For all those well-meant words of encouragement, Priory remain second-to-bottom of the Sydenhams Premier pile heading into Saturday’s crucial home clash with Fawley.

Despite nearly completing a remarkable comeback, Christchurch were sunk 5-3 at league leaders Whitchurch United on Saturday and are still searching for a first league win since September 13.

“I’m sick to death of managers telling me after games that they don’t know how we’re down at the bottom with the side we’ve got,” said Arnold.

“I’m under pressure, it’s not rocket science. We’re in a poor run, but we’ve got a run of games coming up against sides around us and I just hope we get a break.

“It’s a whole new side we’re building and not one player in the squad on Saturday was involved last year.

“It will take time to gel and this is a bigger job than was anticipated.”

Having shipped three goals in the first ten minutes, Priory replied through Dan Haysom’s header to make it 3-1 at the break.

They conceded again early in the second half, but a Jack Lovell header and a superb Nathan Saxby volley brought them to within touching distance of the league leaders before the luckless Anthony Harwood rattled the Whitchurch woodwork three times.

But United rode the storm as goals by Jack Garner, Josh Harfield, Danny Phillips, Lerone Plummer and Ben Thomson carried them to their 12th win in 17 league games.

“It sums our season up that we hit the woodwork three times,” said Arnold. “But if you give the league leaders a 3-0 head start, you will give yourself a mountain to climb.”
