A WINCHESTER art student has joined forces with a French car maker for her first solo show.

Amy-Rose Holland’s exhibition Cactus happened to coincide with Citroën’s release of a car with the same name, and the company decided to sponsor her.

They provided a car for the 21-year-old to decorate for the first two days of the exhibition, as well as sponsoring the bar.

The Winchester School of Art Fine Art student said she was “overwhelmed” by their support.

“It was really nice to work hard for something and have it pay off,” she said.

“There has been talk of me working with Citroën again at their Woking showroom, which has a big gallery space, but nothing is set in stone yet.”

Ray Moore, sales controller, of Freeborn Citroën, Bar End Road, in Winchester, said: “Amy had shown some initiative in recognising that the project coincided with the car release. We thought we would support her for that, and it worked very well.”

Cactus started on Monday and runs until tomorrow (Friday).
