2. World Space Weekend – Saturday and Sunday

John Griffiths shares his life-long passion for the poems, plays and prose of Swansea's most celebrated son in the centenary year of his birth. Expect an evening of poetry, story-telling, song and unique anecdotes.
4. British National Ploughing Championships – Saturday and Sunday
Britain’s finest heavy horses are making their way to Hampshire for the first time. The 64th national championships feature the finest machinery of the past and present, trade stands and country crafts. Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children over 11. 5. One man Lord of the Rings at the Anvil – Saturday
It’s one man to try it all as Canadian actor Charles Ross transforms Tolkien’s 1,000 page book into one hour of stage fights and special effects. Tickets cost £17.
6. Swanmore Harvest Fair - Saturday
In case you missed the big country bash in Winchester last week, St Barnabas Church is holding its own. Don't forget to bring a scarecrow for the annual competition.
7. Eddi Reader at the Theatre Royal - Saturday
Expect an intimate evening spanning folk and pop from a Scottish songwriter whose sophistication was made for theatres with velvet seats.

8. Bouncy funk set to ‘blaxploitation’ film – Saturday
The Soul 45 DJ’s from The Cellar, Southampton, will be screening full scenes and action clips from films such as Shaft, Superfly, The Disco Godfather and others set to street soul and funk music from the likes of Marvin Gaye, Bobby Womack, and James Brown. Saturday, October 11 9pm-2am. Tickets are £5 on the door.
9. Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express – Sunday
Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express will perform at The Railway in Winchester on Sunday. As part of his European tour, Chuck and his band will be taking to the stage with hits from his latest album Night Surfer. 8pm. Tickets are £18.50 on the door.
