JAMIE Musselwhite has returned to AFC Portchester after parting company with Sydenhams Premier title hopefuls Blackfield & Langley.

Musselwhite, pictured, couldn’t continue with the Watersiders after moving home to Hayling Island and was back in the Portchester line-up for Saturday’s visit of Bemerton Heath Harlequins.

But it was a bad day at the office for the Royals who lost 3-0 to two Jack Slade headers and a Graham Mankin penalty awarded for handball against Ryan Smart.

Portchester had bossed the early stages with Rob Evans having a shot cleared off the line and Musselwhite firing wide from six yards.

“We seem to be getting punished for every mistake we make,” sighed Portchester boss Graham Rix. “We had good opportunities to take the lead and it’s a hard defeat to take, but we keep going and keep the belief.”

The Royals – away to Fareham in the Portsmouth Senior Cup tonight – have signed 19-year-old Lewis Horsburgh, released by Pompey in May.
