JOHN Pyatt praised Lymington Town’s “good workmanlike performance” as they came away with a hard-earned point from deposed league leaders Moneyfields on Saturday.
Moneys took a first-half lead through highly-rated marksman Steve Hutchings, but the Linnets hit back with around 15 minutes to go to salvage a 1-1 Sydenhams Premier Division draw.
Dual-signed Gosport striker Jack Odam was floored on the edge of the box and Luke Ansell powered the free-kick through the defensive wall.
It dropped Moneys to second spot behind new leaders Petersfield Town.
“Moneyfields are a hard side to play on their own turf and they tried to outmuscle us early on,” said Lymington boss John Pyatt.
“But our lads responded to the half-time team talk and, the longer the game went on, the more confident we got.”
Lymington, 11th, handed a debut to former Salisbury City youth midfielder Sam Roberts who Pyatt had on loan at Bashley last season.
With ’keeper Stuart Williamson away on Saturday, player/assistant boss Nic Jones will deputise between the sticks at home to Fareham Town.
