A WINCHESTER group is preparing for a 25-mile walk to raise money for a refugee support charity.

The nine walkers will start in Salisbury taking in the Clarendon Way before arriving in Winchester.

They hope to raise £4,000 for Southampton and Winchester Visitors Group, which gives personal, practical and financial support to refugees.

This year is the seventh annual SWVG walk, and organiser Seb Hunter is urging people to donate.

He said: “This is the seventh year I’ve done this, and believe me it doesn’t get any easier.

“The money goes directly to helping the most vulnerable and disenfranchised members of our community. There are no admin costs, no marketing budget, this is a local charity run solely by volunteers. Your money simply pays for food and accommodation for people in desperate need.”
