MONEYFIELDS have lodged notice of approach for Sholing’s FA Vase-winning midfielder Lewis Fennemore.

The Portsmouth-based player has been out with long-term back/shoulder problems, missing much of the Boatmen’s first season back in the Southern One South & West.

Although joining Moneyfields would mean dropping back into the Sydenhams Wessex League, it would be closer to home for the towering 29-year-old midfielder who joined the Boatmen from Folland in February 2012 and was in the starting line-up for May’s glory day out at Wembley.

Quizzed on Fennemore’s future, co-boss Dave Fear said: “Moneyfields have put in a seven-dayer for him and whether he’d look at going there on a dual-signing to be a bit closer to home, I don’t know. He’s got a bad back at the moment. He’s been to the club to see the physio, but he’s been a bit elusive while he’s been injured.

“He used to work for Diaps (chairman Dave Diaper) but he doesn’t anymore. That continuity is not there now.”

New strike signing Sam Wilson is set to be unleashed on Cinderford tomorrow as Sholing travel to Gloucestershire looking to improve on 18th place in Southern One South & West.

Wilson – signed from Winchester City – was ineligible for Wednesday’s Hampshire FA Senior Cup tie against US Portsmouth, but his new teammates fared well without him, crushing their Sydenhams One visitors 5-0. Jude Nwachukwu scored the only goal of the first half, but there was no stopping the Boatmen after the break as Nick Watts (2), Marvin McLean and Braiden Hamilton netted.

Kev Brewster was left out on Wednesday with a minor knee injury, but should return tomorrow. Kane Crisp sat it out with a dead leg and centre-back Dan Miller was unavailable.

Left-back Jack Smith, a summer signing from Blackfield, made a welcome appearance off the bench after long-term injury.
