THIS was the moment a very happy snooker fan from Micheldever Station won a trophy at his local club.

Lewis Aisthorpe-Buckley, six, claimed the Highest Placed Six-Year-Old award in the Eastleigh and District Under-13 league at a presentation day at Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club.

At the end of the 20-week season he ranked fifth in Division Three.

Club-owner Jim Everett presented the silverware to the Year 2 Micheldever Church of England Primary School pupil.

Lewis said: “I like Steve Davis and Ronnie O’Sullivan and Neil Robertson. It’s good fun. I love my snooker lessons and I like winning trophies.”

He has been fascinated with snooker since the age of two and has been working with World Snooker coach Tim Dunkley since March.

In May he won two matches at his league debut, and insists that he ‘doesn’t play pool’.

Mr Dunkley said: “Lewis can be a little monkey at times. But his enthusiasm for the game is infectious. He’s such a happy lad. He doesn’t walk into the club, he bounces. All the staff and players know Lewis. He talks to everyone.”

Mum Michelle said she is pleased with Lewis’ progress.
