HAMPSHIRE and Isle of Wight Army Cadets have announced their new leader.
Colonel Andy Dawes said taking command of the force was the pinnacle of his career.
He said: “My focus will be to ensure that all cadets have the opportunity to achieve their maximum potential and that progressive training is available for all adults to reach their full potential.
“Being appointed commandant is the pinnacle of my 36 years service with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force.”
Col Dawes, who joined the cadets as a 13-year-old, replaces Colonel Rod Lambert, who leaves the post after six years.
Col Lambert said: “I have been lucky enough to witness just how much this youth organisation can do for our teenagers; so many of them achieve so much and gain skills that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives.”
