STOCKBRIDGE villagers are growing increasingly concerned about traffic danger on a busy road past their homes.
A cyclist was seriously injured in a crash yesterday (WED) near a busy junction on the edge of Stockbridge.
The victim in his 50s suffered multiple injuries after a collision with a trailer on Romsey Road at about 10am.
He was taken by road to Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, according to an ambulance service spokeswoman yesterday.
Local man Peter Boitel-Gill, of Romsey Road, arrived on the scene shortly after the crash.
He said: “I was told a trailer came off a car and the cyclist had tried to avoid a pothole and at the same time been side-swiped by the trailer and he fell against the wall.
“He was lying against the wall by St Peter’s church. There was a lot of blood on his head.”
His wife Deborah said: “This was an accident waiting to happen. It is a dangerous road with enormous trucks. We would like something done about the road speed.”
