A MAN has been ordered to pay nearly £1,500 after he was caught fly-tipping in Chilworth.
Ian Hitchcock, of Mandela Way, Southampton, pleaded guilty to the offence at Southampton Magistrates’ Court after he was capturedm on CCTV dumping rubbish in Roman Road.
He was fined £500 and ordered to pay £937.75 in costs.
Test Valley Council’s environment boss, Graham Stallard said: “This individual probably thought they had got away with it as it isn’t often that fly-tips are witnessed, but Test Valley Borough Council has invested in new mobile cameras that are placed around the borough to help catch and deter criminals.
“I am delighted that this individual has been brought to justice. I hope this provides a warning to others that if you choose to break the law by fly-tipping waste you will be prosecuted.”
